Melanie Hughes is a self taught artist based in Leeds. Working mainly with acrylic paint, she creates detailed wildlife, portrait and figurative pieces that explore emotion, identity and personal experience.
Artwork with personal feeling
Melanie's work often captures feelings and challenges that are difficult to express through words. Her paintings move between detailed observation and symbolic subjects, with wildlife, portraits and figurative studies forming an important part of her practice.
Painting, experimenting and developing
Alongside acrylic painting, Melanie continues to experiment with different mediums and is developing her skills within tattoo art. She welcomes thoughtful conversations about original artwork, selected commissions, exhibitions and creative collaborations.
